A Choice

How do you explain race?

How can you change someone’s taste?

Why does one person deserve this,
but others don’t make the graduation list?
Politicians pass a bunch of laws
that leave cracks and flaws.
Schools continue to become worse
when adults put their desires first.

How do you explain race?

How can you change someone’s taste?

Education should be available for all
with teachers making the calls.
Knowledge should be a right
that enables kids to take flight.
They say we’ve progressed,
but children are still oppressed.

How do you explain race?

How can you change someone’s taste?

We can be the voice
that allows children to have a choice.
