Contradictory Life

Contradiction.
I would be dead if I didn’t write,
But I hate writing essays.
I want to be the best,
But I like being lazy.
I try hard to be a good person
But my thoughts are worse than what I say.
Tainted, jaded no longer a baby
Yet polite and tactful, a full-grown lady.
Contradiction.
“Figure it out!”
But you better not fuck up.
“Get out and vote!”
“You have to wear white”
But I want to wear black.
“Listen to the government”
“Here, take this medicine”
Aware yet faded,
no longer dependent
there’s a lot in the world
that needs to be mended.
The rules of society.
Scam after scam
Lie after lie--
Thieves at the top,
Honest at the bottom.
Tainted, jaded no longer a baby
Yet polite and tactful, a full-grown lady.
Contradiction.
